Furniture Medic by MasterCare Experts Refreshed Kitchen with New Cabinet Doors and Drawer Fronts

The kitchen is often the center of many households.  Families gather in the kitchen to prepare and enjoy meals, and the kitchen is also a common spot for entertaining guests.  Not a day goes by where those within the household don’t go into the kitchen for a meal, drink, or a snack.  This makes it important for kitchens to be functional, as well as aesthetically pleasing.  The design and décor of your kitchen can affect the value of your home and the comfort of your family as you use the kitchen.  One feature that has a major impact on the functionality and appearance of your kitchen is the cabinets.

At Furniture Medic by MasterCare Experts, we recently had a family come to us to refresh their tired and well used kitchen cabinets.  The Thermo Foil finish on the cabinet doors and drawer fronts was bubbling and peeling which was dragging down the appearance of the kitchen.  However, the cabinet frames were still in good condition; the doors and drawer fronts just needed replacing to revitalize the look of the kitchen.  Our professionals at Furniture Medic by MasterCare Experts replaced their cabinet door and drawer fronts with new wooden doors and drawers and refinished the cabinet frames to match.

Kitchen Cabinet Refinishing

Our customers came to us because the Thermo Foil finishes on their cabinet doors and drawer fronts were beginning to bubble and peel.  It is common for older Thermo Foil finishes to react like this when exposed to high humidity, water, and general wear and tear and the bubbling and peeling can really diminish the look of the cabinets and the kitchen.  Our customers were also getting new countertops put into their kitchen and the current cabinet doors and drawers were no longer cutting it in their current state.  To go with the new countertops, our customers chose new cabinet doors and drawer fronts with real wood finishes and clean simple lines with Shaker Style profiles.

Our professionals removed the cabinet doors and drawer fronts and made sure that the cabinet frames were still in good condition.  We then painted the cabinet frames with the color of the customer’s choosing to match the color for the new cabinet door and drawer fronts.  We offer many choices when it comes to wood stains and paint colors that customers can choose from and we provide color matching to ensure that furniture is finished and painted in matching colors.

Once we removed the old cabinet doors and drawer fronts, we fabricated new ones in the style chosen by the customers.  We never use pre-fabricated cabinet doors and drawers, all of our cabinet doors and drawers are custom made to the customer’s preferences.  They were then finished and painted in our workshop and brought to the customer’s home for installation when ready.  After we installed the new cabinet doors and drawer fronts onto the newly painted cabinet frames, we installed new, modern handles.  As you can see in the after picture, the cabinets have a more modern design with an updated finish that matches well with the new countertops.

Cabinet refacing is a much less intensive and invasive procedure than full cabinet replacement.  We were able to finish this project in just three days and the family was able to use their kitchen for cooking and eating each day of the project.  The customers were very happy with the transformation of their kitchen including the new cabinet doors, countertops, and appliances.

Cabinet Facing and Refinishing from Furniture Medic by MasterCare Experts

Kitchen cabinets take up a lot of space and are a major part of the décor.  A kitchen remodel normally involves replacing or at least updating the cabinet doors and drawer fronts to create a refreshed, more modern look.  However, fully replacing kitchen cabinets is a big invasive job that will make the remodel much more of a hassle.  With cabinet refacing and refinishing, you can update your kitchen cabinet doors and drawer fronts without removing the cabinet frames and boxes from the walls.

Our professionals can help update your kitchen cabinets by repairing, refinishing, or replacing your current cabinet doors and drawer fronts.  We fabricate custom cabinet doors and drawer fronts and can give them a wood stain or paint color to match the previous color or finish or give the cabinets a new look to match a new remodel.  Cabinet refinishing and refacing is a less invasive project than full replacement that can be completed in just a few days.

In this case, our customers chose to reface their kitchen cabinets as part of their remodel.  Our experts painted the existing cabinet frames with a new color to match their kitchen remodel and then installed new, fabricated cabinet doors and drawer fronts painted to match.  We were happy to help out our customers with this aspect of their kitchen remodel and to finish the project quickly so that they can enjoy having full use of their new kitchen.

If you want to update the look of your kitchen or bathroom cabinets without going through the hassle of a full replacement, consider cabinet refacing and refinishing instead.  Furniture Medic by MasterCare Experts specializes in wood furniture refinishing and restoration, and we can refinish, repair, or replace, cabinet doors and drawer fronts.  Give us a call at (630) 653-3131 to learn more or send us your project through our Submit Your Project feature.
